Numerology and Relationship Compatibility

I’m a closet numerologist – I’ve been studying numerology for years (wow – close to 25 years!) and have read many books on the subject – as well as played with numbers and their meanings for my own personal knowledge. I’m fascinated by how much our numbers have to tell us and how accurate they are. Astrology always seemed very complicated to me – what with the rising signs and transits, etc. I find numerology to be much simpler and therefore, more useful in understanding people – their motivations, their personalities, helping them discover their natural strengths and talents – and understanding how some relationships work while others fall off the tracks.

In astrology, your sun sign tells you the “broad strokes” about who you are – but that doesn’t give you the whole picture. Your rising sign, moon sign, etc. also play an important role. Likewise, in numerology, you have 5 main numbers that make up the majority of who you are. Life Path number, Name/Destiny number, Soul number, Personality number, Birth Day number. I’m going to focus on the Life Path number today since it is the one that is most like your sun sign in that it is a major influence of what you came into this world to do.

How to Find Your Life Path Number

Finding your Life Path number is really as easy as adding the digits of the month, day, and year you were born until you get down to a single digit. Allow me to give an example:

Say you were born May 28th, 1972:

May is the 5th month, so that pares down to a 5.

The 28th would be added together like this: 2 + 8 = 10. Since 10 is not a single digit, you would add those together: 1 + 0 = 1.

1972 looks like this: 1 + 9 + 7 + 2 = 19. 19 needs to be pared down to a single a digit so you add them together: 1 + 9 = 10. 10 is still not a single digit, so you add those numbers together: 1 + 0 = 1.

Now you take the single digits of the month, date and year you were born and add them together until get a single digit. This is your Life Path number. In our example, you take 5 + 1 + 1 = 7. This person is on a 7 Life Path.

An Important Note

Although your Life Path number is one of the most influential of all the numbers, it does not tell the whole story. Only using your Life Path number to determine compatibility is like taking an excerpt of what somebody said and saying that is who they are as a person. There are so many things that makeup compatibility, I would hate for you to dismiss someone just because they didn’t have the right Life Path number or sun sign.

For instance, my honey is an Aries and I am a Scorpio. According to everything I’ve ever read about astrology, we are not supposed to get along for the long haul – a quick romp in the sack maybe, but not a marriage. Good thing neither one of us believed in that stuff when we got together – we’ve been making it work for 13 years now.

Likewise, my husband’s Life Path number is a 6 and mine is a 7. According to what I just wrote and many of the numerology books I have read, 6’s and 7’s generally don’t get along for the long term. Ever heard the term, “They fight like 6s and 7’s”? Putting 6’s and 7’s together generally means chaos. My point is, there is so much more to relationships and compatibility that only looking at one aspect such as your sun sign or Life Path number and saying that makes up the totality of who you are is foolish.

This article is a “feeler article” to see what kind of interest I get. If it proves to be popular, I will be happy to expand upon my theories of relationship compatibility and numbers. As I said in the beginning, I am truly fascinated with numbers and all that they can reveal about your personality, your purpose and your partner!

It’s time for you to finally get love RIGHT!
